Thursday, April 30, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there will be temporary street closures in downtown Halifax starting Tuesday, May 5, to ensure public safety during the installation of a large construction crane.

Starting at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sackville Street between Brunswick Street and Grafton Street, and Market Street between Grafton Street and Prince Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and on-street parking. Crews will accommodate access as needed to the underground parking garage and parking lots in the area.

The streets are expected to reopen at about 9 p.m. on Friday, May 8. During the closures, pedestrians will be able to use the existing sidewalks, although there may be short closures during that time for safety reasons.

Motorists are asked to find alternative routes. The municipality apologizes for any inconvenience these temporary closures may cause.
