Missing person located deceasedOfficers have located the remains of missing person Michael Slaunwhite.
At 2 p.m., divers from the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team searching for Michael located his remains in the Bedford Basin, at the mouth of the Sackville River. Michael was reported missing to police on May 4. Foul play is not suspected in the death.
We extend our sincere sympathies to Michael’s family and friends. We also thank the media and public for their assistance with this matter.

Halifax Regional Police is seeking the public’s help locating a missing White’s Lake man.
Thirty-year-old Michael Slaunwhite was last seen on May 1 in Bedford. At 10:30 p.m., police responded to the Esso Gas Station, at 1505 Bedford Highway, for a report of a suspicious person. A witness reported that Michael drove his vehicle to the gas station, left his car running and entered the store to purchase a drink. Michael appeared distraught and after he made his purchase, he quickly ran from the store on foot and left his car behind. He was last seen running across the street and behind buildings bordering the Sackville River. He hasn’t been seen since and hasn’t been in touch with family or friends. Michael was reported missing to police yesterday.
Michael is described as a white man, 5’5”, 150 lbs., with shaved brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue plaid pajama pants, a blue plaid work shirt with a black hood, a blue t-shirt with the logo of a boat and dark brown dress boots. He was also wearing a gold chain with a large cross around his neck.
There is no information to suggest that Michael has met with foul play, however, police are concerned for his well-being. Officers request that Michael or anyone with information on his whereabouts calls Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5020.
