Missing man – police seek public’s help

UPDATE: Missing person found deceased

A man who was reported missing to police a week and a half ago, has been located deceased. 

Jonathan Chigier, 48, was reported missing on December 19 by his family. He had left his Bedford home on December 18, driving a Honda CRV. Yesterday at approximately 2 p.m., his remains were located in his vehicle on a back road in Mount Uniacke after a woman out for a walk came upon a snow-covered vehicle and contacted East Hants District RCMP. Foul play is not suspected.

Our thoughts are with Jonathan's family and friends at this difficult time, and they respectfully request their privacy. Investigators extend their thanks to the media and the public for their assistance with this matter.

Officers are continuing to ask for the public’s help locating a missing Bedford man.

Forty-eight-year-old Jonathan Chigier was reported missing on December 19 by his family. He is described as a white man, 6', balding with short brown hair and a brown goatee. Jonathan left his Bedford home on December 18 wearing a navy blue fleece sweater and tan pants. He was driving a grey 2011 Honda CRV with Nova Scotia license plate FRD 951 that has a plate cover that says MONROEVILLE.

There is no information to suggest that Jonathan has met with foul play; however, police are concerned for his well-being and are asking for the public`s help with this matter. People out on the roads, particularly those who drive a lot for their work (cab drivers, truck drivers, snow plow operators, etc.), are asked to be on the lookout for Jonathan’s vehicle.
