Halifax Regional Police has located the owner of the money that was found on May 30 in Halifax.
Shortly after 1 p.m., an officer located an item in the Quinpool Road area. Upon closer examination, a sum of money was located inside the item along with other things; however, there was nothing to identify the owner. A media release was issued yesterday in an attempt to locate the owner.
Earlier today, a woman contacted police to claim ownership of the money. She was able to provide a description of the item the money was located in, the amount of money contained in the item and where it was lost. She is currently out of the province and the money will be turned over to her upon her return.
Halifax Regional Police thanks the media and the public for their assistance in this matter.
