Thursday, Mar. 31, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that it’s all-weather sport fields will open for the 2016 season on Friday, April 1.

The three all-weather fields are located as follows:

•         Mainland Common field, 210 Thomas Raddall Drive, Halifax

•         Bedford-Hammonds Plains field, 202 Innovation Drive, Bedford

•         Harbour East field, 261 Commodore Drive, Burnside Park, Dartmouth

Harbour East facility users and spectators are advised that the former parking area onsite is closed due to the adjacent construction of the Dartmouth Four-Pad arena. A new parking area for the sport field has been created on the entrance side of the turning loop, close to the corner of Commodore Drive and John Savage Avenue (see map here). The loop will remain in place to allow for drop offs and pick-ups, and to maintain bus access.

If the new parking area is full, facility users are encouraged to park along Eileen Stubbs Avenue or Spectacle Lake Drive, where permitted. Please note on-street parking is not permitted along Commodore Drive or John Savage Avenue. Motorists are reminded that parking in bicycle lanes is not allowed at any time as per the Motor Vehicle Act, and vehicles will be subject to ticketing.

Where possible, facility users and spectators are encouraged to carpool.

The municipality thanks participants and spectators in advance for their cooperation, and regrets any inconvenience the parking changes may cause.
