Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality has lifted enforcement of the overnight winter parking ban until further notice.

The municipality wants to remind residents that the ban is in effect from now until March 31; however it will only be enforced during declared snow and ice events, when it will run from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Priority 1 and 2 streets and Priority 1 sidewalks are treated and passable, with ongoing clearing and widening of roads that have been significantly narrowed continuing today. Crews will continue to clear and remove snow from residential sidewalks, bus stops and intersections throughout the day and into the evening. Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of variable road and sidewalk conditions during their travel today.

Residents are asked to stay informed and plan ahead by securing off-street parking now for when the overnight winter parking ban is enforced.

The easiest way to be prepared is to sign up for alerts to your phone or email. Sign up online, email contactus@311.halifax.ca or call 311. Residents should note that the registration page is currently not compatible with CHROME web browsers and is not accessible through your smartphone; please use either Internet Explorer or Firefox on a desktop computer. The municipality apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

For those who signed up last season, there is no need to sign up again, unless your personal information has changed. You will continue to receive notifications this season when the ban will be enforced. Standard text messaging rates apply.
