Monday, July 11, 2016 (Halifax, NS) - Residents and businesses are advised that mailed correspondence to and from the municipality may resume as per usual, given recent news from Canada Post that it has withdrawn its 72-hour notice of a lockout, which was to take effect today, July 11.

Last week, the municipality advised residents and businesses to avoid sending correspondence through the mail service pending a possible work disruption at Canada Post. Yesterday, July 10, Canada Post advised that there will be no lockout at this time, and therefore mail service will continue without interruption.

In the event of a future strike or lockout, either party has to issue a 72-hour notice. Should this occur the municipality will issue a follow up communication to advise of the recommended course of action with respect to ongoing mailed correspondence to and from the municipality.

The municipality thanks residents and businesses for their continued cooperation with respect to this matter.
