Halifax Regional Police has located the owner of the money found Wednesday in Halifax.
At approximately 3 p.m. on April 29, a man walking in the area of Staples located at Gottingen and Cunard Streets came upon a sum of money. He picked up the money and attended Police Headquarters to turn it in.
Today, a woman contacted police and advised that she had lost a sum of money in the area on April 29. She was able to provide the correct denomination of the money and additional information which allowed officers to verify the validity of her claim. The money has since been turned over to her.
Halifax Regional Police extends our sincere thanks to the man who found the money and did the right thing by turning it over to police so that it could be returned to the rightful owner. We also thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter.
