Police arrest wanted man

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have arrested a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery.

On January 1, at 4:50 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a robbery at the Petro Canada station at 6381 Quinpool Road in Halifax. A man entered the business, produced a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes from the employee. He fled the area on foot and attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. The employee was not injured.

On January 5, an arrest warrant was issued for 23-year-old Shane Thomas Robinson in relation to this investigation. He has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and disguise with intent.

Today, shortly before 4 p.m., investigators arrested Shane Robinson without incident at a residence on Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth. He is currently in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow.
