At approximately 1:30 a.m. on January 14, East patrol members observed a speeding SUV travelling eastbound on Highway 111 between Exits 6 and 7. The vehicle was driving dangerously and estimated to be travelling in excess of 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Members were about to pursue the vehicle when it immediately crashed into a light standard. The 23-year-old male driver was uninjured and arrested without incident. He will be held for court facing a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was taken to the Dartmouth General Hospital as a precaution for observation due to the speed of the crash.
