Police Chase cancelled

Halifax Regional Police and Halifax District RCMP – Partners in Policing – will no longer be hosting the Police Chase fundraiser. It was a light-hearted 5 kilometre and 1 kilometre run or walk which wasn’t timed and gave race participants an opportunity to pursue the police in the name of charity.

Partners in Policing held the Police Chase in 2014 and 2015, raising over $40,000 for the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia. However, given the abundance of fun runs in our community, we feel that now is the time to move on from the Police Chase and revamp our fundraising events. We recognize that the cancellation of the Police Chase will be disappointing for previous and potential race participants.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers from within both HRP and RCMP who organized the Police Chase and made it a success. Special thanks to Michelle Kempton for serving as our volunteer race director for the Police Chase for the past two years. She was a tremendous resource and the Police Chase wouldn’t have been possible without her.

LETR is our chosen organizational charity, much like it is for many police agencies in Nova Scotia, elsewhere in Canada and throughout the Unites States. In an effort to keep our fundraising endeavours for LETR engaging and exciting, Halifax Regional Police and Halifax District RCMP are currently revamping our fundraising approach. We look forward to announcing and hosting new fundraising efforts in support of LETR and Special Olympics Nova Scotia in the future.
