Today marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of Donald Charles Downey and investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit continue to investigate the case.
On October 30, 1988, at approximately 1a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at 2399 Creighton Street in Halifax. Upon police arrival, officers located Mr. Downey suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he died a short time later.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Downey was residing at an Abbey Road address at the time of his death, and he was known to frequent the north end of Halifax and Uniacke Square area.
