Police Continue to Investigate the Murder of Jean Myra

On April 5, 1990, at 10:48 a.m., police responded to the west side of the grain elevators just south of South Bland Street after a citizen discovered a body under a set of stairs. The deceased was identified as Jean Hilda Myra and investigators determined she was the victim of a homicide.

The investigation revealed that the victim was residing at the Halifax YMCA at the time of her death. The victim was last seen leaving a tavern in the south end of Barrington Street around midnight on April 4, 1990, and she was known to frequent the south end of Halifax. Investigators believe there are people who have information that could result in an arrest and possible charges.
