Police continue to investigate the murder of Michael Leo Resk

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the murder of Michael Leo Resk.

On December 9, 1955, at approximately 2 a.m., police responded to a report from a taxi driver about a delivery van parked on Acadia Street, near Roome Street, in an unusual manner.  Officers located Michael in the back of the delivery van. He was deceased as a result of gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe Michael left his home on Poplar Street to go to his store on Gottingen and lock up for the night.

The Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Investigators are asking anyone with information, who has not already spoken with police, to come forward. What may seem like an insignificant detail could be the key to progressing the investigation into Michael’s murder.

Michael’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.
