Police Identify Homicide Victim

(2:18 p.m.)The victim in Friday morning’s homicide in Halifax has been identified as 27-year-old John Fulton Newcombe of Dartmouth.

At 2:08 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Clayton Park Shopping Center located at 278 Lacewood Drive. Upon arrival, officers located John Newcombe on the sidewalk and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The autopsy on John was conducted yesterday and confirmed he died as a result of injuries sustained from having been shot. The investigation indicates that John had just left an establishment when he was shot and that the suspect fled through a walkway towards Willett Street.

Police believe that John was the intended target of the shooting and that this was not a random incident. Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit would like to speak with anyone who was at that location the night John was shot who have not yet spoken to police.
