Police investigate attempted bank robbery

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred in Halifax this morning.

Just after 10 a.m., a man entered the East Coast Credit Union located at 120 Kearney Lake Road. The man wanted to cash a cheque but was advised that the tellers do not have cash on site. The man then jumped over the counter and started opening drawers. He indicated he had a weapon but none was seen by witnesses. As the man was unable to locate any money, he jumped back over the counter and fled the bank on foot in the direction of Parkland Drive. Patrol officers as well as K9 attended but didn’t locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man, middle aged with a beard. He was wearing a dark toque, black gloves, a green or gray hoodie tucked into tan overalls and work boots.
