Four suspects are in custody following a break and enter in Halifax earlier this afternoon.

On February 12, at 3:03 p.m., police responded to the 6000 block of Binney Street for a break and enter in progress. Three residents were home in their apartment when four suspects armed with a firearm entered the apartment and demanded cash and personal property. The victims were not injured during the incident and were able to call police after the suspects fled in a car with the items.

Shortly after, officers observed the car on Joseph Howe Drive and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection with Abbott Drive. Three suspects were taken into custody and the fourth suspect fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was caught by patrol officers assisted by a K-9 Unit. The firearm was also recovered in the car. No charges have been laid at this time and the investigation is continuing.

Currently, both southbound lanes of Joseph Howe Drive are closed to traffic between Highway 102 and Mumford Road, while one lane of traffic is open northbound.
