Police investigate weapons complaint GO#20-3128

Update: Members of the Halifax Regional Police have cleared the scene and have confirmed no injuries or property damage in relation to this incident. We thank everyone for their patience and cooperation. 

On January 8 at 3:59 p.m., Halifax Regional Police received a complaint of a man discharging a firearm. The man was described to police as wearing a black hoodie and face covering at the time of the incident. 

Members of Patrol as well as the General Investigation Section are investigating a report of a firearm being discharged in the area of the 3000-4000 block of Lynch Street in Halifax.

Police have streets on Vestry blocked at Novalea and Barrington. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes for the time being.

The investigation is in its early stages. There is no known threat to public safety at this time and more information will be shared when known.
