Police Investigating an Armed Robbery

At 7:26 a.m. , police were dispatched to an alarm call received from the Needs Convenience Store located at 5881 Duffus Street in Halifax. Shortly after the alarm call was dispatched,  a 9-1-1 call was received reporting that an armed robbery had occurred at the store. Officers arrived quickly on scene and determined that a robbery had occurred. An independent witness to the incident provided police with a direction of travel of the suspect, and  police gave chase on foot with a K-9 team but were unsuccessful in apprehending the suspect. Staff at the Needs store indicated that the suspect entered the store brandishing a knife. The suspect then took an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes and fled on foot. No one was injured during this incident. This matter remains under investigation at this time.

The suspect was described as a white man,  34 to 36-years-old, 5’7”. He was wearing a hooded, grayish-colored zip-up jacket with orange sleeves, a red mask over his face, blue jeans and white sneakers.
