Police investigating indecent act

Officers are investigating an indecent act that occurred Saturday afternoon in Halifax.
 
On January 9 at 2:25 p.m., two women were on the second floor of the Patrick Power Library at Saint Mary’s University, when a man not known to them sat at their table for a brief period, then walked away. A few minutes later, one of the women looked up and saw the same man standing by an aisle of books while he was masturbating. The woman immediately yelled at the man and he left. The woman advised Saint Mary’s Security of the incident and Security contacted police.
 
The woman was not able to speak to police until last night to provide a statement in relation to the incident. The man is described as white, 35-45 years-old, 5’7”, with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark or grey toque, blue jeans and a coat.
 
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect and this incident to call 902-490-5016. Similarly, if anyone has observed similar suspicious activity in the area, they are encouraged to report the incident to police.
