Police issued summary offence tickets to two separate businesses in Halifax this weekend for failing to follow the Health Protection Act.
On February 13 at approximately 8 p.m. police investigated a report that a Halifax restaurant was not following provincial regulations. Officers attended and found that the restaurant was not following regulations related to the wearing of masks. The provincial regulations require everyone to a wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth while present in a public place. Officers issued a summary offence ticket under section 71 (1) (a) of the Health Protection Act for a corporation failing to comply with the act and its regulations which carries a fine of $7,500.

Officers attended and found that the restaurant was not following regulations related to the serving of patrons and the wearing of masks. The provincial regulations for Halifax and Hants County state that restaurants can re-open for dine-in service but can only serve dine-in customers until 10 p.m. and must close by 11 p.m. Officers issued a summary offence ticket under section 71 (1) (a) of the Health Protection Act for a corporation failing to comply with the act and its regulations which carries a fine of $7,500.
