Police lay charges in homicide investigation

Police have charged a man in relation to the homicide of the 32-year-old man that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. on August 16, police responded to a report of a stabbing on Twin Oaks Road. Officers located a man who had been stabbed. The 32-year-old man was transported to hospital where he later died. The victim has been identified as Adam Jerome Dempsey.

Yesterday, investigators from the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested 36-year-old Alexander Charles Howe. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court to face a charge of first-degree murder.

At this time, investigators believe this was not a random incident, and police are not looking for additional suspects.
