Police make arrests in street-level robberies

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division today arrested five people in connection with the street-level robberies that happened in and around the Halifax Common in November 2015.

Between November 7 and November 29, seven street level robberies occurred in the proximity of the Halifax Common where groups of youths were using violence against individuals or groups of people and stealing items from the victims.

Police deployed a number of resources to address the rash of senseless violence in our community. As a result of the investigation, investigators today arrested three male youths, one man and one woman, ranging in age from 15-18 and all of Halifax. All of the arrests were made without incident. The woman who was arrested has since been released without charges.

The investigation is on-going and charges are expected.
