HRM Partners in Policing wish citizens a safe and Happy New Year.
Extra officers will be working tonight as part of the New Year’s Eve festivities. Police will also continue with Operation Christmas which involves random checkpoints throughout HRM to detect and arrest impaired drivers and ensure road safety in our community.
Police encourage citizens to plan ahead for transportation this New Year’s Eve by arranging for a designated driver, taking a cab or taking advantage of Metro Transit’s free bus service from 6 p.m.-2 a.m. and/or free ferry services from 6 p.m. until 1:45 a.m.
Most importantly, HRM Partners in Policing remind citizens to drink responsibly. If you drink, don’t drive!
