Police officer faces criminal charges

A Halifax Regional Police Officer faces criminal charges as a result of an incident that occurred overnight in Cole Harbour. 

At 2:38 a.m., Cole Harbour RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by an off-duty HRP officer. As a result of their investigation, they have charged 48-year-old Constable Charles Bruce with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level that exceeds the legal limit.

Constable Bruce, who has been with the Department for 20 years, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 26, 2014. Constable Bruce has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of this matter.
