Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance to identify a truck and its driver involved in a hit and run that occurred in Halifax on January 12, 2016.

At 6:50 p.m., a large truck was travelling north on Barrington Street with the boom elevated.  After driving under the MacDonald Bridge the boom hooked onto some power and telephone lines which brought down part of a telephone pole causing damage. The pole then swung into the roadway and collided with the side of an SUV travelling in the opposite direction. The male driver of the SUV was not injured but his vehicle sustained major damage. He was unable to obtain a license plate for the truck or any company logos as it was dark at the time.

The truck is described as red in colour and the driver appears to have stopped, lowered the boom and left the area after the collision. The colour of the truck is red but appears different due to the camera filters.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident and/or the driver of the truck to call 902-490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
