Police Request Public’s Assistance in Relation to a Sexual Assault

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Major Crime Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred Saturday in Halifax.

At 2:50 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the intersection of Church Street and South Street in Halifax for a report of a sexual assault. A 24-year-old woman was walking on South Street when a man who was walking on the other side of the street, crossed over and started to walk behind her. The man made lewd comments to her and then touched her inappropriately. The woman yelled at the man and he left on foot on Church Street. The woman made her way to a nearby business and called police. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.

Investigators are looking for a white man in his twenties with a medium build, 5'8"-5'9", brown eyes and a large nose. He was wearing a close-fitted ski mask or dickie covering his mouth, dark hoodie, dark hat, dark ski jacket with a large stripe across the front, blue jeans and white running shoes.
