Police Requesting Public’s Assistance

​ Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance to locate a man who is wanted in connection with an assault last week in Halifax.

On June 7 at approximately 4:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance where the suspect had left prior to police arrival. Based on the investigation, officers determined that a number of offences had taken place. They have spoken with the suspect and checked a number of locations but so far he hasn’t been arrested or turned himself in. Today, 30-year-old Robert James Smith was charged with assault, uttering threats, unlawfully in a dwelling house and three counts of breaching his probation, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is described as a white man, 6’1”, 187 lbs., with short brown hair and investigators believe he may be staying in the Spryfield area.

 

Members of the public should not approach Robert Smith or try to take matters into their own hands. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016.
