Police Requesting Public’s Assistance
Investigators assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a man who was found deceased in Dartmouth last week.
On April 9 at 1:43 a.m., police were called to the 500 block of Portland Street to assist Emergency Health Services with a sudden death call. Staff of the business had located an unresponsive man in the washroom and called 911. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man deceased. An autopsy was conducted which determined the cause of death was natural.
The man did not have any identification and despite all efforts by investigators we were unable to identify the man. On April 13, a sketch of the man was released to the public but he remains unidentified. Having exhausted all avenues available to investigators to identify him, we are now releasing a photo of the man that was taken after he had passed away in the hopes that someone might recognize him. He is described as white, 55 to 65-years-old, 5’8”, 170 lbs., with thinning blonde/grey hair. He has freckles and a scar on his left jaw bone. At the time he was found, he was wearing a green, red and black jacket and a white baseball hat with black diamonds on it. A bicycle was found at that location and investigators believe the man may have arrived on the bike.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to contact police at 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
