Just after 8 am Patrol members responded to a report of a man on the roof of the CTV building on Robie Street in Halifax holding a protest sign. The 56-year-old New Waterford man was protesting an issue he has with a government agency. The section of roof he was on was an awning about 14 feet above ground. Police remained onscene and negotiated with the man, who eventually came down from the roof at 4 p.m. He was arrested without incident by officers waiting on the ground. He remains in custody however it is anticipated he will be released this evening, scheduled to appear in court at a later date. One of the conditions of his release will be to abstain from going on the rooftop of any building not owned by himself.
