Halifax Regional Police responded to protests involving a large number of vehicles as well as protestors who attended on foot in Halifax on February 12, 2022. Several hundred vehicles started arriving in the downtown core of Halifax after travelling from across Nova Scotia starting around noon and into the afternoon. Police officers were present throughout the area to keep the traffic flowing, and to promote public safety. Approximately three hundred protestors rallied at the Grand Parade throughout the afternoon.

The rally and the convoy have now concluded and the downtown area is largely clear of the convoy traffic. While the events took place at Grand Parade, officers focused their efforts on keeping the traffic moving and monitoring those participating in the rally with a focus on public safety.

Throughout the day, police assessed and adjusted necessary street closure requirements while diverting and keeping the traffic moving. We continue to monitor the traffic flow and movement of the convoy out of HRM. Officers will also monitor throughout the night and weekend as part of their general duties.  We thank everyone who assisted us in minimizing disruption, as officers responded.
