Police on Scene of Barricaded Person (UPDATE)

Police have cleared the scene at a barricaded person call in Halifax.

At 5:20 a.m., an officer witnessed a suspect in a residence located at 6024 Compton Avenue with a firearm. Patrol officers, investigators, the Emergency Response Team and a Crisis Negotiator responded to this incident.

Shortly after 11 a.m., a man and a woman were taken into custody by police from the residence in question; however investigators have yet to determine their connection to the original incident involving a firearm. At 2 p.m., police obtained a search warrant and the Emergency Response Team entered the residence. No additional suspects were located and the scene was turned over to investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section who will be executing the search warrant. Police blocked off several streets during this incident and the streets were re-opened around 3 p.m. Evacuated residents were also allowed to return to their homes.
