Province House Assault - UPDATE

Police are releasing the name of the man accused in connection with an assault that occurred yesterday at Province House.

At 3:36 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a complaint of an assault not in progress at Province House located at 1724 Hollis Street in Halifax. The victim, a 65-year-old man, stated that earlier in the afternoon, while in the washroom at Province House, he was threatened and assaulted by a man known to him. The victim was not injured in the assault and statements were gathered from him and several witnesses. At 7:45 p.m., the suspect voluntarily attended police headquarters and was subsequently arrested.

Sixty-five-year-old Percy Alonzo Paris of Windsor Junction is facing charges of uttering threats and assault. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on June 18 and on an undertaking preventing him from communicating directly or indirectly with the victim except incidental contact in the place of employment.
