Tuesday, July 7, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Registration for the next two sessions of free swimming lessons opens at 10 a.m. this Wednesday, July 8.
These free outdoor classes are available at all municipal beaches and the Halifax Common outdoor pool. Many locations will also offer free Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and junior lifeguard programs for those interested in advanced swimming and lifeguarding.
Our municipal government has made it a priority to encourage healthy communities across the Halifax region. Offering fun, free recreational activities helps encourage people to live healthier, more active lifestyles and makes for a safer summer for all.
Participants are required to register for the free lessons and registration will continue until the classes are filled. To sign up, residents can call 902-490-6666, visit any municipally operated community recreation centre in the Halifax region or go online at the Community & Recreation Services “Rec Connect” page. Simply visit www.halifax.ca/rec/ProgramsandActivities.php and click on “Beach” to sign up.
