Wednesday, June 11, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – A number of streets in downtown Dartmouth will be closed on Sunday, June 15, for the Switch: Open Street Sundays event, part of Bike Week 2014.

Starting at noon on Sunday, Portland Street will be closed from Alderney Drive to Prince Albert Road, as well as Prince Albert from Portland to Sinclair Street.

Motorists are advised that due to the closures, the traffic signals at Prince Albert and Hawthorne Street will be turned off and the intersection will be controlled by Halifax Regional Police.

All affected streets will reopen at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Switch: Open Street Sundays is one of the featured events for Bike Week 2014 (June 6-15). Switch is not about street closures – it is about opening streets to a greater variety of transportation modes. The event is meant to encourage people to enjoy the Halifax region in a new way by walking, biking and moving around safely and comfortably on a two-kilometre route.
