Robbery - East Division

On November 21, at 1:15 a.m.  - Members responded to an armed robbery at the Needs Convenience Store located at 303 Prince Albert Road in Dartmouth. A man entered the store, threatened the store clerk with a knife and demanded cigarettes and cash. The suspect then fled from the store with the cigarettes but no cash was taken. A witness in the area observed the robbery and watched the suspect flee in a vehicle with an accomplice. The witness provided a vehicle description and multiple police units, HRP and RCMP, flooded the area. An RCMP member located the vehicle on Highway 111, a vehicle stop was conducted by the RCMP and HRP units. As the vehicle came to a stop a suspect ran from the car, a short foot chase ensued and the suspect was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle involved yielded evidence stolen from the convenience store. The store clerk was not injured during this incident.

The two male suspects ( one from Dartmouth / one from Porters Lake) remain in police custody, the matter remains under investigation, charges are pending.
