Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the Sackville Sports Stadium has been temporarily closed due to a fire on-site, and all personnel and facility users have been evacuated from the building.
Smoke from the fire is currently present inside several areas of the building, and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency personnel are responding at the scene.
As a result, all programs and swimming lessons have been cancelled or postponed until further notice, until the building is deemed safe to reopen. A follow up Public Service Announcement will be issued when the facility is able to reopen for use.
The municipality regrets any inconvenience this facility closure may cause, and thanks residents for their patience.
