Thursday, July 9, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in an exciting redevelopment project underway at 6067 Quinpool Road. The former site of the Quinpool Learning Centre and the Saint Patrick's High School, 6067 Quinpool Road was declared surplus property by Regional Council in 2014 and the land is now being prepared for future sale and development.
The municipality is undertaking a new approach for disposal of this property by preparing a number of design concepts for the site that the public will comment on. This will ensure a high-quality mixed-use development with a focus on good urban design and built form that will build on the vibrancy of the Quinpool Road business district and neighborhoods.
Residents are invited to attend a public open house to review and comment on three preliminary design options for Quinpool 6067 prepared by the project consultants, as follows:

Residents unable to attend this event may also review and comment on the design concepts, which will be posted on July 23 on the Shape Your City Halifax page at http://shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/quinpool6067. In the meantime, background information regarding the Quinpool 6067 project is currently available on this online community engagement portal.
Public comment on the design concepts will be open for three weeks following the release of the three preliminary design concepts. A second public open house will be held in September 2015 to provide residents with information about the final design concept recommendation and guidelines for site redevelopment that came out of the first open house and public feedback.
The process to finalize the single, proposed design concept for site redevelopment that will be presented in the second open house, is expected to finish by late fall 2015. Regional Council will receive a staff report in 2016 with recommendations regarding the proposed design concept and associated plan amendments for their consideration and approval. Following adoption of the plan amendments, it is anticipated the property will be marketed for disposal by the summer of 2016.
