Shots Fired

Halifax Regional Police are currently at the scene of a weapons-related incident  in central Halifax.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., police received a report of multiple gunshots having been fired in the area of Barrington and Duffus Street. Officers responded to the scene and now have it cordoned off for investigative purposes.

As part of the investigation, local hospitals were contacted in the event a victim with gunshot wounds had been brought in. It was determined that a shooting victim had in fact transported himself to the QE II hospital for medical treatment. The 28-year-old male victim is currently being treated for a gunshot wound that is not considered life-threatening. It is anticipated that he will not be admitted to hospital for this injury. There have been no arrests in relation to this incident.

Members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have assumed responsibility for this investigation and it is in its early stages. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
