Officers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two men after they approached girls this afternoon in Halifax.

At about 12:30 p.m., three girls – two aged 12 and one aged 13 – were walking westbound in the 6300 block of Chebucto Road. A white pickup truck with two male occupants was travelling westbound along Chebucto Road and slowed down next to the girls very near the intersection of Chebucto Road and Harvard Street. One of the male occupants of the truck said something to the girls that they couldn’t make out. The passenger of the truck then told the girls to "Get in the truck" in a gruff, aggressive way. The girls walked away quickly onto Oxford School property on North Street.

The truck then continued on Chebucto, turning onto Oxford Street and then circled the block, and then turned into the cul de sac at the entrance to Oxford School. The truck then drove slowly around the cul de sac before driving back down Willow Street, turning left on Dublin and left on North in the direction of Oxford Street.

The truck is described as an older model white Chevrolet compact with Chevrolet lettering in silver on the tailgate, silver trim along its bottom edge, and had a black toolbox across the truck bed. The windows were manual.

The driver is described as a white man in his 50s, heavy set, wearing a beanie or ball cap and a dark gray or navy plaid coat. The passenger is described as a white man in his 30s, average build, dark hair, full beard, wearing a green plaid coat. He spoke with a deep voice.

Police are looking into whether this incident is connected to an incident, previously released, that occurred on February 22 in the area of Greenpark Close, Halifax.

Investigators are asking anyone who has any information on either of these incidents to contact police by calling 902-490-5020.
