Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance finding the owners of recovered items stolen from motor vehicles in Bedford.

On July 18, as part of an ongoing investigation patrol officers arrested two 15-year-old male youths at an address in the 100 block of Rocky Lake Drive.  Officers found a quantity of stolen items and determined that some of these items were taken from vehicles parked on Windrock and Shore Drives between July 16 and 18. Both youths are facing charges of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and trespass by night and will appear in Halifax Provincial Youth Court at a later date.

Police have yet to locate the owner(s) of a number of the items and are asking anyone who’s vehicle was broken into between July 16 and 18 in the area of Windrock and Shore Drives to contact police at 902-490-5016.

Police remind citizens that thefts from vehicles are typically crimes of opportunity, with the sight of items being a temptation for would-be thieves. Citizens should remove all items from their vehicles, lock the doors and close the windows upon exiting. If it is absolutely necessary to leave items in your vehicle, locked them in the trunk out of plain view before arriving at your destination. Anyone observing suspicious activity in or around parked vehicles should report it to police immediately at 902-490-5020.
