Traffic stop leads to drugs and weapons charges

Two men face charges as a result of a traffic stop in Halifax yesterday. 

At 4:16 p.m. on February 23, members of the East Quick Response Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 block of Washmill Lake Drive. The male occupant of the vehicle was arrested at the scene without incident. 

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of the Quick Response Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Kraal Terrace in Halifax. As a result of the search, a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl pills and marihuana were seized along with drug paraphernalia, a quantity of cash as well as a loaded handgun. Officers arrested a man during this search. 

Twenty-eight-year-old Dawson Lewis Carrington Jordan and 27-year-old Jonathon Edward Lawrence White, both of Halifax, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana as well as numerous weapons related charges. 

Both men are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial court today.
