Two people face drug charges after an arrest this afternoon in Halifax.

After receiving complaints from the public about ongoing drug issues, officers assigned to the Central Quick Response Unit attended the area of Brenton Street. They noted two men who were acting suspicious entering a nearby alleyway. Members in the Unit, assisted by Community Response Officers, arrested the two men and a subsequent search resulted in a quantity of marijuana being seized.

A 29-year-old man from Halifax was charged with trafficking and has been placed on conditions to remain away from the Spring Garden Road area. A 31-year-old man, also from Halifax, was charged with possession of marijuana. Both are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date on these charges.

Our Quick Response Units are an important part of the Halifax Regional Police crime reduction strategy, with a separate unit for each of our three divisions. The members in these Units usually work in a plain clothes capacity and address crime and quality-of-life issues.
