Update on Police Blotter

Halifax Regional Police has been working towards proactively releasing a police blotter of our calls for service. The intent would be to produce and distribute the blotter twice daily, to coincide with the end of each 12-hour shift, and include a list of calls for service with the call number, date, time, street name and final call type (following police response and investigation).

We had planned to officially launch the blotter at the end of April 2014, however, as part of our due diligence, we are currently seeking legal and privacy advice to ensure we are upholding Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation. Our goal is to balance our citizens’ privacy with their right to know.

Further updates on the progress of the blotter will be made as they become available.
