UPDATE: Police charge man with second degree murder

Police have charged a man with second degree murder following a homicide in Halifax on Wednesday.

On Nov. 28, Aaron James Johnson, 40, was arrested for the murder of Troy Clayton.

Troy Clayton, 59, was injured during a dispute on Gottingen Street on Nov. 26. He was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service confirmed the manner of death to be homicide.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday, Dec. 1.

Investigators do not believe the incident was random. As the matter remains under investigation, no further details will be shared at this time.

Halifax Regional Police extend their condolences to Mr. Clayton’s loved ones.
