Halifax Regional Police has concluded the investigation into a fatal collision that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this year.

On October 31 at 5 p.m., officers responded to a collision between a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Portland Hills Drive and Portland Estates Boulevard. A car travelling westbound on Portland Hills Drive collided with a pedestrian crossing the road in a marked crosswalk. The 74-year-old male pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and passed away in hospital on November 3.

Earlier this afternoon, investigators met with the 23-year-old male driver and issued him two summary offence tickets. Both under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and one for operating an unregistered vehicle. These tickets carry fines of $693.95 and $176.45 respectively upon conviction.

Our thoughts remain with everyone who was affected by this tragic incident.
