Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 (Halifax, NS) - As part of the implementation of HRM’s recently adopted Urban Forest Master Plan, street tree pruning will take place this week on Robie Street between Inglis and South streets.

The Urban Forest Master Plan outlines the value in being proactive with street tree pruning activities. Damage to street trees – as well as nearby utility lines – can be avoided with more regular cycles of tree pruning, rather than simply reacting on an “as needed” basis whenever there’s a problem.

Regular pruning can also extend the life and improve the canopy of street trees.

Work along Robie Street is expected to begin tomorrow, Tuesday Jan. 21, and will take place weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Robie Street will be open to traffic however there will be temporary lane closures and some parking spaces on Robie Street will not be available while pruning takes place.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by January 27.

Motorists should expect delays in the area and are encouraged to use alternative routes. HRM apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
