Halifax Regional Police is investigating two vehicle/pedestrian collisions that occurred last week in HRM.

On February 11, at 8:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man crossing Prince Albert Road in a crosswalk at the intersection of Portland Street was hit by a car turning right from Portland Street to Prince Albert Road. The pedestrian did not suffer injuries and both the pedestrian and the 17-year-old male youth driver reported the matter to police the following day. This incident remains under investigation and no charges have been laid.

On February 14, at 8:45 p.m., a woman exiting the main entrance of the Sobey’s located at 955 Bedford Highway was hit by a car driven by a 49-year-old man. The driver contacted police but the woman left the area prior to police arrival. It is not believe the woman suffered any injuries,

Road safety is a shared responsibility. Motorists are reminded to slow down, pay attention and adjust their driving for the conditions. There is a crosswalk at every intersection, whether it is marked or not, and drivers must yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
