Wanted man arrested in relation to abduction

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have arrested a man wanted in relation to an abduction that occurred earlier this week in Halifax.

On March 2 at 4:50 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of McAlpine Avenue. A 19-year-old man called police from inside a residence and reported he had been assaulted and was being held against his will by several men. He also advised that one of the suspects had a handgun. He made his way out of the residence to awaiting police members and was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 

Contact was made with the occupants of the residence. Two 16-year-old male youths and a 16-year-old female youth are currently facing numerous charges in relation to this incident. This was not a random act as the parties are known to each other.

Yesterday at 5 p.m., investigators arrested 20-year-old Daniel Angus Ryan in Halifax in relation to this investigation. He was held in custody overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today. He is facing nine weapon-related offences, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.

Investigators are still looking for a man wanted in relation to this abduction, 21-year-old Robert Roech Chan of Halifax. Chan is described as a black man, 6’1”, 170 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes. He is facing nine weapon-related offences, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.

Chan is believed to be in HRM at this time. He is considered armed and dangerous and members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands.
