At approximately 12:30 a.m. officers attended an address in the 5600 block of Duffus Street in Halifax for a report of an unknown trouble. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a 50-year-old man in possession of a knife who challenged police to shoot him. It was learned by responding officers that this same man had shortly before their arrival threatened an adult roommate with a knife. The roommate was able to exit the residence and speak with attending officers. The 50-year-old man ran into the unoccupied home still in possession of the knife while officers contained the residence. Emergency Response Officers and K9 attended and a brief negotiation took place with the man until he exited the residence on his own and was taken into custody. The 50-year-old man will appear in court on charges of uttering threats to cause bodily harm and weapons dangerous.
